Southern and Central Illinoisans – Are You Prepared For Fracking?

You might be in danger of frackquakes (the whole region), air and water contamination, (within a couple of miles from each well, depending on the wind), excessive truck traffic and accidents, and plummeting property values.

Here are sites to go to for information to protect your property and family. Info on getting baseline testing and what to document to be able to prevail against the oil and natural gas industry in a challenge to the permits for these dangerous high volume, horizontal wells at the IL Dept. of Natural Resources (IDNR), or any future lawsuits if damages occur.

The final rules for high volume fracking have been released by the IDNR:

62-240 – The Illinois Oil and Gas Act – Final Rules for Seismicity http://www.dnr.illinois.gov/adrules/documents/62-240.pdf

62-245 – Hydraulic Fracturing Regulatory Act – Final Rules http://www.dnr.illinois.gov/adrules/documents/62-245.pdf

Please watch the IDNR website for permits for oil, gas and Class ll waste disposal wells in your area: www.dnr.illinois.gov/OilandGas/Pages/OilGasWeeklyDrillLog.aspx – if the permit is for a high volume fracking well then you have the right to challenge those permits shortly after they are posted at the IDNR.

Here is another source for permit information, Oil and Gas Related Wells in Illinois: www.isgs.uiuc.edu/iloil/ogdb

Don’t know how to read through this information for permits? Then go here to find out how: http://shawneehollers.wordpress.com/how-to-read-a-permit/

– Please learn about the dangers to your family from horizontal drilling with fracturing operations and Class ll waste disposal wells.
If you live or work close to these wells – within 5 miles – then some of these recommendations should be considered – including paying attention to proposed truck traffic routes to and from a well that might impact your community, business or residence.
If you are within 2 miles from a well then you are at a higher risk of harm, (wind direction should be considered).
To consider: baseline testing of your air and water, videoing of your: property, foundations, walls, roofs, chimneys and outer structures – prior to any earthquake damage,
and contacting your insurance agent.
Your ability to defend your family and land might impacted if baseline documentation is not obtained. Much more information can be found at these sites: http://soillinoissentinels.wordpress.com/ (scroll down to “Are You Prepared?) www.dontfractureillinois.net/baseline-testing/
